Brief descriptions of places I go, things I try, and products I use...

1. Book Review

Ambrose & Harris (2006). "Print & Finish - Basics Design 06." AVA Publishing.

I picked up this book from my local library recently. If you noticed one of my blog posts: Destination: The Printers, you'll know that I faced a few struggles as I tried to decide how to move forward with my first digital print. While this little book didn't find it's way to me until after I navigated that system on my own, I knew that print wasn't going to be my last, so I needed to do some more research.

This is a handy, little reference guide. It walks you through: Substrates, Printing, Finishing, Production, Binding, and Resolve. It reinforced things I already knew and opened brand new doors! Each section offers a clear description of the various types and formats available to artists with stunning examples and photos to support each description. Even the pages of the book are different so you can really get a feel for some of the types of finished papers.

For an intro and summary of all the options available to someone like myself - I give this a book 4 stars!

Happy reading.
